CarnivalThis picture was taken at a local carnival. The day was cloudy, adding a balancing element to the photo. I only adjusted the brightness and contrast to make sure the mask popped when I applied it.I highlighted the red in the ferris wheel because it was the only colorful area that was big enough to emphasize the photo. The color itself is also important because the deep, bright red is very vibrant among the neutral shades of grey present in the rest of the picture.

FieldThis is a picture of my dog taken on a small field by my house. The natural light caught on his face made a great shadow behind him and highlights the colors of his fur. I adjusted the saturation as well as the brightness so the orange undertones would pop. I also contrasted it using the curves adjustment. Overall I think this photo has great emphasis because of the brightness and size of the point of interest compared to the background.

BudThis picture is of a flower, taken from a straight on angle. I encountered a few issues with glare so i approached the picture more to reduce it. I cropped the picture to reduce negative space but still wanted to keep some. Negative space is an important tool when wanting to emphasize the point of interest, so I did that. I adjusted the curves, brightness, and vibrance to make the purple mask pop.

BloomerThis flower was a new, blooming plant captured in it's natural habitat. It was important to bring back color in the whole flower because of the fact that there is so much negative space and texture in the background. The texture helps you notice the smoothness of the flower as well as the color. The angle of the camera is also important because it gives a unique perspective on the subject. I used brightness and levels to balance out some of the bright spots on the picture from the sun.

Cherry on Top
This picture shows a water bottle with a unique pattern. Since the pattern is so small I made sure to bring back color and emphasize two of the cherries. If I were to only do one it would have looked awkward and a bit out of place, so two balanced out the color. Since the white bottle is on a black surface it contrasts the cherries and the white bottle itself. I cropped the picture to eliminate the space on the sides and adjusted the brightness.
