Next to my house is a small but pretty patch of woods called Dolph Nature Area that I like to go to frequently. It was a really warm, bright, and clear day so it was perfect to go take a walk. The winter left a lot of the forest dead but while I was walking I saw this small patch of growing flowers. I thought it was really pretty to see this new life coming from the dead around it so that is why I chose to photograph it. The feeling I am trying to convey is the feeling of spring and new beginnings.
This picture was also taken at Dolph Nature Area. Due to the fact that the sun was shining bright I had a few issues positioning myself to not cast a shadow on the picture. There are a few shadows from surrounding trees but it doesn't take anything away from the picture. I really liked the different textures and layers to the path so thats why I chose the location. I want this picture to depict an emotion of adventure because it shows a path with endless possibilities.
For this picture I found a small cluster of trees in the nature area that broke because of natural causes and chose the one with the best texture to photograph. Finding good angles for this was a little difficult because some times the different parts of the tree would create bad lighting and shadows. But getting close made sure it would look good. I really like how the picture " A New Perspective" turned out because it makes the stump look like its own forest or city. This correlates with the message I am trying to convey which is a sense of wonder.
In my backyard there are many small and big trees but this one is my favorite. I chose to take the pictures from a new angle by taking them from under the tree instead of just taking the pictures from eye level. I really like how tall the tree is with the length and color of the branches. I didn't encounter any issues and I am satisfied with how the pictures came out. With this picture I want to make the view feel an emotion of nostalgia because, at least for me, big trees remind me of climbing them as a small kid.
My final pictures were taken at a small pond in the same nature area. I really enjoyed the reflections in the water with the bright sun shining down. I didn't encounter any problems with shadows, light, etc but I did have trouble finding flattering angles. The green aspects of life add a really nice touch to the picture. I want this picture to reflect true natural beauty and evoke that in people.
